Branded Pens Really Took Off

The most popular promotional product around is the humble branded ballpoint pen. But how did the branded “Biro” come about in the first place?

The household name actually comes from the inventor itself, it was in 1938 that the Hungarian, Lazio Jozsef Biro, developed today’s familiar Biro. However this high tech pen for it day, only took off when Henry George Martin (a British businessman), acquired the patent rights and created the first ballpoint pen factory.

Your promotional biro pen took off really due to the war effort, as the pen was supplied to Royal Air Force with around 30,000 pens being sent there way during the Second World War. The reason why the Biro was as popular with pilots, as it is today within the promotional products industry, is that the pen won’t smudge and stain all you’re your nice clean shirt as well as your important notes!

A branded ballpoint pen offers great value for money, and can be successful marketing tool for practically any business. Remember if you’re looking for a particular promotional ball point pen, contact the friendly pen experts over at Gift Selection, who will help you out.
